Programme Structure

The Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) provides students with a balanced and internationally recognised secondary school qualification. To graduate with the OSSD, students must meet the following requirements:

Credit Completion

Students must complete a total of 30 credits: 18 Compulsory Credits, covering essential academic areas such as languages, mathematics, sciences, social studies, and computing.

12 Optional Credits, chosen according to personal interests, career aspirations, or university entry requirements.

Literacy Requirement

All students must successfully meet the literacy standard through the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT) or by completing the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Course (OSSLC).

This ensures graduates have the reading and writing skills needed for higher education and professional success.

Community Involvement

Students are required to complete 40 hours of compulsory community or voluntary service.

This component encourages civic responsibility, leadership, and social engagement, providing meaningful experiences outside the classroom.

What is the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD)?
The OSSD is Canada’s official high school qualification, awarded by schools licensed by the Ontario Ministry of Education. It is globally recognised and accepted by universities in Canada, the UK, the USA, Australia, and many other countries.
How long does it take to complete the OSSD with GEP?
This depends on your background:If you already have credits from previous studies, you may complete the Grade 12 component in 6–12 months.
If you’re starting from Grade 11, the pathway usually takes around 2 years.
Younger students can begin as early as Grade 9 and complete over 3–4 years.
What are the entry requirements?
You’ll need to submit your previous school transcripts so we can transfer eligible credits. Proof of English proficiency is also required (IELTS/TOEFL or evidence of English-medium schooling). If needed, you may complete an English placement or bridging course before starting Grade 12 U-courses.
Is GEP officially authorised to deliver the OSSD?
Yes. GEP partners with Concordia Ontario Academy (Registered School No: 669705), an Ontario-licensed school inspected by the Ontario Ministry of Education. Certificates and transcripts are issued directly by Concordia Ontario Academy and carry full official recognition
Do I need to take a final exam?
No. The OSSD uses a continuous assessment model. Your final grades are based on assignments, projects, tests, and coursework throughout the year.

Can I apply to university with the OSSD?
Yes. With the OSSD, you can apply directly to universities worldwide without needing a foundation year. For admission, you will need at least 6 Grade 12 University-level (U) courses, which we guide you to complete.
 How will I study? Are classes live or recorded?
You will study online through Canvas LMS, the same platform used by Ontario schools. Learning includes:Assignments, projects, tests, and quizzes
